Tap the first field and a panel opens at the bottom of the screen. Type an answer, pick a date, tick a box, and it moves to the next field on its own. Some forms are quicker to write than to tap through. Set a template to handwriting mode and write straight onto the PDF with Apple Pencil, anywhere on the page, with no fields to place first. The ink is flattened into the exported PDF the same way a signature is. Handwriting mode needs an Apple Pencil, so it runs on iPad.

How do clients sign: finger, Apple Pencil, or typed?
Clients draw their signature directly on screen using a finger or Apple Pencil. The signature is captured using Apple's PencilKit for a smooth, natural writing experience and is permanently embedded in the exported PDF.
Can I write on the form by hand instead of placing fields?
On iPad, yes. Set a template to handwriting mode and write directly on the PDF with Apple Pencil, anywhere on the page, with no fields to place first. Handwriting mode needs an Apple Pencil, so it is iPad only. On iPhone, and on an iPad without a Pencil, you use the field-based flow instead.
Can I attach photos or documents to a client?
Yes. Take a photo, pick one from your library, or add any file, and it sits on that client's record next to their signed forms. You can mark an attachment up with Apple's markup tools and the edited version saves back in place. The free tier allows 10 attachments per client, and Pro removes the limit.
Can I get the collected form data into a spreadsheet?
Yes, on Pro. Pick a template in Records and export its submissions as CSV, using either the field labels or the raw field names as column headers. The file goes out through the normal share sheet, so it can land in Numbers, Excel, an email, or your Files app.
Can I use it on both iPhone and iPad?
Yes. InPersonForms is a universal app that runs natively on both iPhone and iPad. A single purchase covers both devices. Requires iOS 26 or later.
How do I export or share completed forms?
Completed forms are exported as standard PDF files. You can share them via email, AirDrop, Messages, or save to your Files app or any cloud storage, whatever works for your workflow.
Can multiple staff share a device?
Yes. InPersonForms doesn't require individual user accounts. Multiple staff members can use the same device. Just hand it to the client when it's time to fill in their details and sign.
What happens if I lose my device?
Your data is protected by your device's built-in security (Face ID, Touch ID, or passcode), and because nothing is stored in the cloud there is no external account to compromise. On Pro you can also write everything (clients, templates, forms, and signed PDFs) into a single backup file and keep it wherever you like. Restore that file on a replacement device and you are back where you left off. Your device's own iCloud or computer backup covers the app as well.
Can I move everything to a new iPad?
Yes. On Pro, create a backup file in Settings, move it to the new device however you prefer, and restore it there. Clients, templates, forms, and signed PDFs all come across.
